What is Pancreatin?
Pancreatin is a complex of digestive enzymes (amylase, lipase, protease) that contributes to the breakdown of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates in the small intestine. It is suitable as a supplement during increased digestive load and is available in a vegan form.

Pancreatin is a blend of three enzymes:
● amylase – contributes to the breakdown of carbohydrates
● protease – contributes to the breakdown of proteins
● lipase – contributes to the breakdown of fats
These enzymes may support digestion and help with digestive discomfort. They break down nutrients more efficiently, reducing the burden on the digestive tract. In particular, lipase is the enzyme involved in the breakdown of fats, which are the most demanding to process, especially in fatty, heavy meals and high-protein diets.
How does Pancreatin work?
Pancreatin works in the digestive tract, where it:
● contributes to the breakdown of fats into smaller components
● contributes to the breakdown of proteins into amino acids
● contributes to the breakdown of carbohydrates into simpler sugars
The result is more efficient processing of consumed food.

The dietary supplement Pancreatin comes in the form of an AR (acid-resistant) capsule. An acid-resistant capsule is designed not to dissolve in the acidic environment of the stomach, but later – usually in the intestine where the pH is higher. This ensures that the active ingredients are not destroyed in the stomach and reach the place where they are intended to act. Pancreatin replaces missing pancreatic enzymes, enabling the normal breakdown of macronutrients into absorbable forms.
What happens with macronutrients – WITHOUT ENZYMES VS. WITH PANCREATIN?
Without enzymes:
Proteins
Partial digestion → fermentation in the large intestine → bloating
Carbohydrates
Incomplete starch digestion → blood sugar fluctuations, heaviness
Fats
Reduced absorption of vitamins A, D, E, K → nutritional deficiencies
With KOMPAVA Pancreatin:
Proteins
Complete digestion → free amino acids absorbed through the intestinal wall
Carbohydrates
Efficient breakdown into glucose → stable energy, no bloating
Fats
Lipase hydrolyzes triglycerides → better absorption of omega-3s and vitamins
Kompava uses a fermented plant-based source (microbial fermentation) to produce Pancreatin, making it fully vegan and equally effective as animal-derived variants. Kompava Pancreatin is standardized according to the 4NF standard.

What causes a lack of digestive enzymes?
The amount of digestive enzymes in the body can be affected by several factors, for example:
● natural age-related changes
● long-term unbalanced or heavy diet
● certain lifestyle habits (e.g. stress, irregular eating patterns)
Without enzymes:
● fats (lipase) → non-absorbable
● proteins (protease) → only partially broken down
● carbohydrates (amylase) → slower digestion
In some cases, reduced enzyme production may be associated with a health condition that should be discussed with a healthcare professional.
What happens if I don’t have enough digestive enzymes?
If the amount of digestive enzymes in the body is lower, it may affect food processing.
Some people may experience:
● a feeling of heaviness after meals
● bloating
● slower digestion of certain food components
● abdominal discomfort after eating

Benefits of Pancreatin:
● Pancreatin contains digestive enzymes from a fermented plant-based source.
● Pancreatin contains three enzymes in one AR (acid-resistant) capsule.
● Pancreatin contributes to:
- supporting digestion
- the digestion of fats (lipase), proteins (protease), and carbohydrates (amylase)
- improved nutrient absorption
- relief from heaviness after meals
- relief from bloating or flatulence after meals
● Vegan source of enzymes.
● Slovak brand.
Active components:
Pancreatin
a blend of digestive enzymes (amylase, lipase, and protease). It is involved in the breakdown of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.
● Lipase – the most important component, breaks down fats into fatty acids and glycerol, enabling fat absorption in the small intestine
● Amylase – breaks down carbohydrates (starch) into simpler sugars, facilitating carbohydrate absorption
● Protease (e.g. trypsin, chymotrypsin) – breaks down proteins into amino acids ready for absorption

Who is Pancreatin suitable for?
The product is suitable for adults aged 18+, vegetarians, and vegans.
● For people with digestive discomfort after meals (feeling of fullness, heaviness, bloating, flatulence)
● For individuals with a higher intake of fats or proteins (heavy and fatty meals, high-protein diets)
● For older adults (enzyme production may decrease with age)
● For people with reduced digestive capacity (e.g. after large or irregular meals, during stress)
● For athletes and people on specific diets (e.g. high-protein or calorie-rich diets)
● For people with a diagnosed deficiency of digestive enzymes
Who is it NOT primarily intended for:
● people without digestive issues (benefits are usually minimal)
● acute pancreatic diseases (e.g. inflammation) without consulting a doctor
● as a substitute for treatment of serious medical conditions

1-2 capsules daily
as needed

Just before meals
ideal time of use

The capsules should be taken with sufficient water

Practical recommendation
The best effect is achieved:
● when taken during or immediately before meals
● with meals that are more demanding to digest
Capsules should be taken with a sufficient amount of water. This ensures that the capsule reaches the stomach, where it can begin to gradually break down and release the necessary substances into the body.
Do not forget to follow the recommended dosage indicated on the product packaging. Proper dosage is key to achieving optimal results.

Frequently asked questions:
What is Pancreatin used for?
● Pancreatin is a mixture of digestive enzymes used to support the breakdown of the main components of food – fats, proteins, and carbohydrates – during digestion.
When should Pancreatin be taken?
● Pancreatin is usually taken during a meal or at the beginning of a meal so that the enzymes can take part in the digestion of the food consumed. Pancreatin is ideally taken with meals that are more difficult to digest.
How quickly does Pancreatin work?
● Pancreatin works during the digestion of food in the small intestine, so its action occurs simultaneously with food consumption.
How often can I take Pancreatin?
● Pancreatin can be taken as needed.
Is Pancreatin suitable for vegetarians or vegans?
● Yes, Pancreatin from Kompava is also suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
What causes a deficiency of digestive enzymes?
● A deficiency of digestive enzymes can be linked to several factors that affect natural digestion. These include, for example, older age, long-term poor diet, stress, eating too quickly, or overall strain on the body. The production of digestive enzymes may naturally change over the course of life.
What are the symptoms of poor fat digestion?
● Commonly reported symptoms include a feeling of heavier digestion after fatty meals or changes in digestive comfort after fat consumption.
Is Pancreatin suitable for children?
● No, Pancreatin is not suitable for children. It is intended for adults aged 18+.
Can pregnant or breastfeeding women take Pancreatin?
● No, Pancreatin is not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
What is the 4NF Standard?
● The 4NF standard according to the US Pharmacopeia guarantees defined and verified enzymatic activity in every batch. The capsule is made of HPMC with an acid-resistant (AR) coating – the enzymes pass through stomach acid (pH 1–3) and are released exactly where needed: in the small intestine at pH 6–7. 4NF for digestive enzymes usually indicates that the raw material complies with USP–NF (United States Pharmacopeia – National Formulary) standards, meaning a pharmaceutical quality standard for purity and enzymatic activity. For digestive enzymes, the designation “4NF” is used as a technical specification of enzyme quality and activity.
