It’s a unique fitness concept where it’s not just about strength or endurance separately, but about the ability to handle both together.

The foundation of HYROX is alternating between:

• running (a total of 8 km)
• and 8 functional workouts

HYROX is based on alternating runs and functional exercises, with this cycle repeated eight times.

Unlike traditional training:

That’s why HYROX is ideal for anyone who doesn’t want to “just lift weights” or “just run,” but is looking for a challenge that improves them in every aspect.

HYROX races

From the beginning, HYROX has been designed as a race focused on both personal challenge and comparison with others. It takes place in cities around the world – from major European capitals like Vienna to many other locations where athletes can experience the same standardised race format.

No qualification is required to start – you just need to register. There is also no time limit to finish the race, so it doesn’t matter whether you complete it in one, two, or three hours – what matters is crossing the finish line.

HYROX races are unique because they follow a fixed format that is identical at every event worldwide. This allows you to compare your performance not only with others but also with yourself over time.

How do HYROX races work?

The race starts with a mass start in an indoor arena, where the following cycle is repeated:

• 1 km run
• workout station
• 1 km run
• next station
• … until all 8 rounds are completed

Where did HYROX originate?

HYROX was founded in Hamburg in 2017 by event organisers who wanted to create a new type of fitness race – one that is:

• global (same format worldwide)
• measurable (comparable results)
• accessible to everyone

Since its creation, HYROX has expanded extremely quickly and is now held in dozens of cities worldwide – across Europe, the USA, and Asia.
